The OAN Careers

Director of Capital Markets
Toronto, San Francisco, New York, but flexible, Ontario, Canada, USA

Introduction

Hi, I’m Matt Spoke, CEO at Moves. We are looking for a Director of Capital Markets to join our team and help accelerate our ability to raise significant debt capacity into our business and support the growth of our lending product.

Moves is a new fintech platform focused on addressing the underserved market of independent workers in the gig economy. As a fast-growing segment of the labor market, independent workers are becoming critical to our economy, yet they continue to go overlooked by banks. These are the rideshare drivers, food couriers, designers, photographers, consultants, and other freelancers who are finding their next gig online. Moves has internally developed a proprietary alternative to traditional credit checks used by big banks, by leveraging open APIs and blockchain technology. Instead, Moves is building a future of financial services that respects the increasingly independent way people choose to make a living.

Our products are being designed to get to know our customers better over time, and help them establish a new financial reputation, outside of their outdated credit score. Moves’ affordable loans have been designed specifically for independent workers in the gig economy, and our product offerings will be expanding to continue supporting their progress and mobility.

As the Director of Capital Markets, you will be a fundamental member of our team, and be responsible for managing the Company’s capital resources. This includes managing the debt capital raising process and monitoring internal credit facilities and any other capital market initiatives. Working directly with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team, you will play a valuable role in driving the Company’s growth during this exciting stage of the Company’s history.

So, who are you? Being the first capital markets team member to join us, you are a collaborative, empathetic self-starter who believes in our mission of financial inclusion. You have a passion for setting clear direction and accomplishing goals. You’ll be expected to help the company navigate debt capital markets, and to work alongside our product teams to understand our debt requirements as we scale our operations.

We are seeking someone who has a strong background in capital markets, with a preference debt capital markets experience. More importantly, you will be a person who loves a challenge and who is excited about working for a dynamic, rapidly growing tech startup. As the business grows, you will have the opportunity to step into a leadership role by building out a full capital markets team.
